The Finished Load
The Finished Load

After serving in Afghanistan and seeing first hand the urgent and continued need for basic clothing, books and shoes, Capt. spent two years collecting and storing items to send back to Afghanistan. With the assistance of Afghans for Civil Society, she was able to fulfil her commitment. Upon the shipment's arrival in Kandahar Afghanistan, the truck driver (shown) wasn't able to load it all, but the call went out and these American soldiers and base personnel gladly came to the call of duty. Americans helping Afghans to help Americans who help Afghans.

ACS has assisted various other individuals and organizations working in Afghanistan including assistance with refurbishing an orphanage in Kabul, facilitating and distribution of blankets and other emergency supplies and collecting and shipping donated school supplies.

Medical Supplies

For several years ACS has received donations of small medical supplies, books and vitamins which we have in turn found many ways of shipping to the many needed clinics and hospitals in Afghanistan. . When the call came that the Kabul University Hospital and the Kandahar Hospital were in desperate need of  basic equipment such as beds, IV lines, incubators and just about every supply used in a hospital operating room or treatment room, we started asking nurses, doctors and others involved in the medical field. Our requests were answered. We have many thanks to give -  Great thanks to The University of Maryland, Baltimore and Columbia-St. Mary’s in Wisconsin from which we received enough supplies to fill a 40 foot shipping container!  How did we do it? Thanks to our board members, we received the funds to transport the large equipment  from Wisconsin to Virginia, thanks to many volunteers in Wisconsin who inventoried and packed the much needed equipment and loaded it on a tractor trailer special thanks to  Becky and Sandy and their spouses who coordinated it all on a very short notice,  thanks to Samra Sulaiman of  Global Watch Group for donating the shipping container from the U.S. to Kabul. Thanks to Paxton Transport for their cooperation in arranging the transportation and warehousing and their much needed patience. Thanks to all of you who were involved, who extended your valuable time and prayers so that the people of Afghanistan could receive the much needed medical support and service they deserve. Our efforts continue and we would appreciate any help for future shipments.
